Yafan is a multidisciplinary artist, a nature lover, and a foodie.
About
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan (b.1996), at the edge of social media boom, Yafan feels a certain nostalgia towards all things physical. Her work spans books, kinetic sound sculptures, story booths, and websites that reimagine memories and fuse the digital and physical world. Play, wonder, and movement are all part of the connectivity landscape that she cares deeply about as she believes the future of technology lies in these intrinsically human elements.
She holds an MA in Interactive Media Art, and is currently a research resident at NYU IMA Low Res, prototyping her way through questions about vibration, human connection, and how to build a rhizomatic system with nature, devices and experiences that feel organic with different materials.
Before this, she spent years as a creative director and graphic designer, moving between a big advertising agency and a local Taiwanese brand. In her free time, she's usually rock climbing, free diving, throwing ceramics, petting animals, or hunting down the best bowl of ramen in the world.
